Kims Kreidler LF 1968

Kim got himself a nice Kreidler LF from 1968, it has a 3 speed engine and a massive oil leak. The leak came from the gearshifter which rests underneath the engine. On this old model the whole engine needs to be stripped for parts, to access the damaged oilseal. So that was our mission, but more tasks came along the way.

We found metal debris in the gearbox, a snapring had come loose and destroyed a piece of the first gear sprocket. I had some matching spare parts, so we could continue with the engine overhaul. All bearings, seals and gaskets where renewed.

Take a look in the gallery below:

Kreidler RM 4 speed engine overhaul.

My good friend Lauge bought a Kreidler RM 4 speed from 1974. A 2,9 HP version with a direct shift gearbox. It was very hard to get in third and fourth gear, you had to play with the lever to find the last two gears. The gearshifter had alot of play up and down, the adjuster mechanism had no effect on the lever placement. Something was wrong and we needed to split the cases.

While we were at it we gave it a set of new bearings, seals and gaskets. The old ones where in a pretty poor state. The previous owner had adjusted some of the axles to below zero clearence, so the bearings took alot of axial pressure.

Take a look at all the pictures, there is some information about the faulty gearlever spring in the descriptions.

Nikolajs Vespa Ciao

My friend bought an old Ciao, but it was very slow. Even after fixing everything it still couldn’t do more than 25-28 km/h. So we decided to give it some help. Enlarged intake, carburettor and an Giannelli exhaust. While we were at it, we gave it a new set of bearings and seals, the old ones where fine though.

Svens Puch VZ 50 1973

A new member of the Small Pistons. Sven borrowed my MS 50 in 2013 for the summer trip. He knew he had to get his own ride, he was very lucky to find a very cheap Puch VZ 50, 3 speed. He found it in my local area, only two previous owners, number match and all the original sales papers from 1973. The frame was pretty rusty, and it had alot of mechanical errors. Sven wanted it to be solid mechanically, he likes the old patina look. So restoring it was pretty fast, but we had to get some help fixing all the rust.

Here are some frame pictures:

And the engine:

I also shot a quick video of the first, or second startup:

Roberts Puch MS 50 engine

I had some friends by to work on Roberts Puch MS engine. We took it apart to see what needed attention, there where some issues. New crankshaft, gear selector shaft, complete clutch housings and plates, bearings and seals.

Check the badly worn clutch housing, play in all directions:
